This has long been my go to sauce when I was making anything seafood. I have made it for over 18 years now. I believe I watched someone make some variation of it on the food network many years ago.
I have always made it simply by taste. Add a little of this and that until it suites my tastes, like a lot of my cooking prior to starting the food blog. I sometime tend to forget the simple recipes like this one that really bring the flavor to a simple dish.
So after numerous request from friends and family to share the recipe, I finally forced myself to slow down measure and write it down so that I can share it.
People often buy expensive sauces for their seafood, simply because they don’t realize how quick and easy it is to make their own fresh sauce at home.
This sauce only has five ingredients and comes together quickly. It turns out best if you make it at least an hour ahead and let it hang out in the fridge so that the flavors blend together.
Making This Sauce Couldn’t Be More Simple
In a large bowl add the mayo and sour cream and gently combine them with a spatula.
Mince up a bunch of fresh dill. You can find fresh dill in the produce sections of the supermarket now days. About 1/4 of a Cup minced. You can never add too much dill in my opinion. Add this to the bowl.
Roughly chop 1 Tablespoon of Capers and toss into the bowl and then juice a fresh lemon into the bowl.
Mix well transfer to a jar with a lid and place into the fridge to chill and give the flavors time to mix together for at least an hour before serving.
What To Serve it on:
This sauce goes well with just about any type of seafood. Some of my favorites are Crispy Pan Fried Cod, Grilled Salmon, Crab Cakes and Salmon Patties, to name a few.
